Renee we are booked to go in october and got really cheap flights flying from tullamarine to singapore with tiger airways and then valuair(which is jetstar) from singapore to denpasar. May take an extra couple of hours but cost a third of the price quoted from other major airlines.
Teh only thing is that you will have to collect your luggage at singapore and re check in to fly to bali.
