Have had a discusting experience with this. Waited 2 months before the tv was picked up for repair with their so called "piece of mind warrenty", they kept pointing the finger to everyone within their branch and kept saying the warrenty was not actually with HN, it is in fact another branch of HN - fault reported Dec 17, 2007 and told we would get a call in the next few days to have it picked up.
After not having a tv and arguing with them it took another month the get a loaner 40 inch LCD (we have a 60 inch $8000- tv) after they offered an old 32inch CRT tv (which would not fit in the cabinet)which was nice of them to do that i must admit. It has been 2 more months and it is apparenty repaired and being delivered on Tuesday. There had never been a return phone call after the promises from both the warrenty people (ICF) and HN and we have had to keep chasing them time and time again, to the point of having to see the proprietor of the store to get things done.
Without the direct contact, most often by us, to the company commisioned to repair the tv, we would still not know where it is and when it would be coming back to us.
During such time we have been to Bali for the first time and had service that was the best i have ever seen, from people in every place that we had visited, from hotels, villas, restuarants, cafes.. etc.. all were wonderful, so if HN were to go to Indonesia, i would doubt the Aussie staff (bar a few)would be asked to work there as the branch would go under in a minute with that level of service, before and after sales.
Unfortuatly we in Oz have forgotten how to treat people and customers and for some reason the retail world feel that we should be honoured that they are there for us to pay them for their products. Perhaps we should go back to basic and start again.
One thing is for sure, Bali will get my dollars again, and i look forward to the smiles i see everyday, smiles that are not gone the minute your dollar hits the till!!
I know this is all off track, but the more people that know the better, and those going to Bali for the first time and doubting it, just go to your local shops and think about how the service used to be, and when you say you miss the hospitality from the good old days, it is not gone, it has just been forgotten... except in Bali.
