i have an apec business travel card and have had it for a few years now. you do need to have business references in order to get it. i have found it to be a great help when fast tracking at airports, especially ngurah rai. i just go to the counter on the right, hold up my card, and the immigration officer usually recognises me and says 'you know where to go', which is to the office behind where the 'regular' VOA people are processed.
i use it for business purposes as i live and work in bali, but i cannot use it any more for bali as i have a kitas. this still allows me to enter through a faster lane though.
should i go to other countries for business, i simply use my card when going through immigration. entering australia is a breeze as i go to the crew and diplomat lane and get through a lot faster.
