You will need a PIN number if you want to access funds from your Mastercard. Some people have their cheque account or savings, linked on the same card, so require the PIN to access the funds.
Having a PIN number attached is just another way that you could call on emergency cash vis the credit card.
You dont have to enter a PIN when you purchase using your credit card.
