we need to accept & realise that Bali is part of Indonesia & not part of or an extension of Australia or any other Western culture.Bali & her people do not share the same traditions & culture as we do as a people.
The Balinese people along with other Indonesians & Australians & many people in other countries throughout the world,all shared the grief especially those that lost loved ones in this terrible event,they will no doubt continue to suffer from their loss.As hard as it to accept for those families involved who experienced a loss & for those of us who are outsiders,everyone handles their grief & loss in a different way - depending on their own cultural upbringing & their own beliefs.
I agree with Hilary that the memorial was probably more to satisfy westerners but maybe we should just leave it at that,after all it is not our country.I am sure that the Balinese people will never forget as neither will Aussies or people from many other countries who lost loved ones.
