10 chairs to northern Victoria (where we have a very dry climate) las t year. The table is big (210cm by 120cm) and when we bought it,they were worried about it splitting due to the weather and the size of the piece of wood. The suggestion was to make the table out of solid pieces around the outside with a teak veneer inset in the middle. Looking at it, you really can't tell it is veneer, except that when they bonded the veneer to whatever is underneath, it is not entirely smooth. However, as I usually have something in the middle of the table such as candles, or a runner, it is not easily visable. Make sure they use seasoned wood and oil the table regularly.
