We have purchased may teak items, and only had one of the items which expanded (causing a gap). If it's not a significantly big gap try to get a wood putty thats as close to the colour of the wood, fill the gap and blend in.

We have bought quality teak goods from:
Lumbung Mas Gallery, they are located at Jl. Raya Mas, Ubud - Bali.

None of the goods from here have cracked or expanded, they have very good quality strong hardwoods and can make items to your specifications.
