Most of the medications adults can take for BB can have significant side effects for infants. Dehydration is a greater risk for infants than adults. Oral rehydration salts such as Gastrolyte not only replace water & electrolytes in appropriate proportions, butt also help ease the diarrhoea because of their particular glucose content. Higher sugar concentrations (glucose, fructose or sucrose) can aggravate diarrhoea (hence Glucozade, flat lemonade etc are no longer recommended). Gastrolyte tastes metallic because of the potassium content. Freezing or chilling it and giving small amounts very frequently helps. Seek medical attention sooner rather than later if it's not settling.
