I tried all the things you mentioned as well and still didn't come out any better. Garuda direct quoted me more than other places!!!
We are flying from Sydney, I wonder whether that would make a difference, I wouldn't think so. (I could always leave the kids at home but don't like my chances of getting out of the house alive without them!! he he)
