from shore (give or take) there is a bit of a reef. Not talking beautiful coral type reef but something to look at so if you wanted to do some snorkling to pass some time there would definitly be something to see out front and along the front of Centro. As far as taking your own gear, when you organise someone to take you to one of the great spots they supply the gear so it really only worth taking your own if you plan to snorkle were you want, not on a tour.
