I looked at the ASUS but I decided that the screen and keyboard were too small for my needs. Instead, I purchased a Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook from Officeworks yesterday for $A499 (after cashback).
As well as accessing the Internet, I can watch DVDs, do word processing etc.
The disadvantages compared to an Asus is that the Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook weighs 2.5 kg and that I will have to purchase Microsoft Office 2007 after the 60 day trial period ends. I also purchased an optical mouse for $A19.
Using the software on the Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook, I simply click on an icon and it shows me all the WiFi networks available and the strength of their signal. I simply choose a network and enter the password. That network then becomes my automatic WiFi network until I decide to change it.
