Just got back yesterday. Stayed at Puri Raja but was interested in seeing the upgrade to Kumala Pantai as we stayed there last time. We walked through from the beach up through reception and missed the whole thing. Went back after being told where the new rooms are and had a good look around. There is a new block that is still being completed right on the street end. There is another new pool and another 2 blocks that are now operational all appeared to be blocks of 3 floors. The rooms are great - much the same as the existing ones there. They are right on the new pool (that has a pool bar!!!) We asked what the name of the block was and he said just to request "The New Block". Unfortunately it is the other end to the beach - so it makes it a bit of a hike to breakfast which is still beachside. Looks great and rooms are the same as the others. I was told that I wouldnt be able to book a junior suite for hubby, myself and 2 kids - I would need to get ambassador suite - which would end up being 3 rooms!! Mentioned that we had junior suite before with 2 kids and he said that - new regulations.
Hope this helps - my view is: The rooms are the same as the others, pool looks great and only meters from ground floor rooms (might get noisy), long way to breakfast and beach.
