You and your wife went with your "gut" and I guess you cant knock that. However what has been illuded to below is what the Balinese call "tricks". Well documented.

I really found on the streets this last time the practice seems to becoming more "common"
At traffic lights I recall my driver expressing his concern - part of which I only got in my ears ( probably a combo of Balinese and English in his anger frustration) but it was reported in a previous JBR of mine. "Lazy Woman" wanting cheap no effort money. Then began the story of what they all know. Not "Mother & Baby" rented "drugged" baby pinched to the Sh*** house to make cry.
My blood boils.
