with the objective of repositioning the shoreline about an average of 50 metres out from where it is today (the curve of the beach has some areas extended further than others). Sandy beach will extend from the new shoreline landside with paved walkways and recreation areas along the entire foreshore length (i.e. from Tuban to Legian). The new beach and walkway will exist even at places (such as outside the Patra) that currently have no beach at all. Essentially, Tuban, Kuta and Legian will share a common beachfront including sandy beach and paved walkways. It must be costing an absolute fortune. And the sad, tired, dirty, old Kuta beach that we've come to know (and maybe love) will look sensational. There is an information board on the reclamation project at the Patra and near the stone steps leading to the beach at the back of the drivers' station and shops outside the Bali Hai.
