you can go to amed and go to "matahari hotel" just behind the hotel is very good snorkeling not more then 15 meters off shore in calm water. they have shop where you can rent mask/fin/snorkel and also have a dive shop so if you needed a guide they can have someone go with you. they also have a place for you to leave you stuff at the restaurant in back then you can have lunch there. the staff is very nice and so much to see so close in the shore!! i took 2 local guys there that could not swim ( i am a dive master) and i had the 2 of them out enjoying in no time at all! happy snorkeling!! you will ove it!!! nusa lembomgon is also o.k. but you must go aff the boat which is sometime scary for a first timer.
