I bought a lovely wooden jewellery box from Geneva a few years ago ( 2 boxes actually) and one was a bit suss at Customs and they said if I noticed ANY powder residue( apparnetly the borers excrement!!) to contact Quarantine asap......well I told my man at Customs that I had sprayed and bagged in Bali and he said that doesnt do anything as the Borer can lay dormant for 17 yes 17 years in your wood YUUUUKKK, Anyway as it turned out I did find borer dust about a year later and I handed it in to Quarantine and they fumigated it at no cost to me.I also work with imported fruniture and have been told the spray works but the customs man seemed to know what he was talking about and he said it really doesnt.....we really dont want thses little blighters in our houses either...sepecially me who lives in a pole house EEK. Now I always take my Geneva stuff into the daylight and also tap it on the stainless steel counter to check for borer poo !!!
