Excellent choice...gives a different perspective from Bali.
If you kust want to sit by a beach and do nothing much then Kuta. If you want a more eclectic mix of eating places and live music bars then Senggigi is your place. Senggigi Beach Resort and Santosa are central and Holiday Resort an additional 5 minute drive up the road.
It is also easy to decamp to Gili T if a real party, party is required.
I would fly as it is cheaper than the fast boat to Gili T and much less hassle than the usual ferry from Bali that potentially can take all day.
