Thanks to all who answered my last Amed post, I have spent forever researching all the hotels mentioned plus a few more and have narrowed it down to either "Apa Kabar Villas" at Bunutan beach, or the "Coral View Cottages" at Lipah Beach.
I love the look of Apa Kabar, their web site alone is so full of character, but after fighting the pebbles and the swell at Banyuning (where the Japanese wreck is) last year I worry that the beach here is pebbly, we don't mind not having sand, it would actually be quite novel, but does it make access into the ocean difficult? At Banyuning the pebbles kept on giving way under our feet, making it a very comical entrance into the water, kind of ruins my vision of strolling into the ocean!
The beach at Lipah sounds nicer? and again the "Coral View Cottages" seem to have the character we love, but they also look quite run down, I don't mind if they are old but are they well kept?
I know I'm getting a bit pedantic but we will be spending a week here, if it wasn't peak season( December) I wouldn't pre book as there are few really nice looking places I can't contact, I also wouldn't be as concerned with hotels, only it is the wet season and we run the risk of zero visibility in the water, and been stuck in our rooms! so our hotel choice will matter.
Any comments on the pros and con's of these two beaches/hotels, different aspects,(even the tiniest info about the hotels) would be really appreciated.
Cheers Deb.
