But I would have someone in the car with you to help with directions (first time anyway). If you make a wrong turn anyway, the next roundabout will be signposted to Ubud, and you are not really going that far out of your way. The more you drive in Bali, the more you get used to it, and I find it just gives you that freedom to up and go. Have fun.
