I'm sure that she will enjoy the freedom of running around on the lawn and gardens rather than only having balconly access. I answered the question below to the other forum member as they sounded unsure of ponds, perhaps because they don't have one, or their toddler is not familiar with them.
We live on 7 acres and have large ponds, a small damn and a creek, and my kids grew up with this in their surroundings. So I would opt for ground floor if I had a toddler too. It's funny though, that by laws with council here in Australia that even though we have ponds etc, we must have a fence around our pool.
Water can definately be a novelty for toddlers, but like I said supervision is the key ;)
I'm sure you will have a lovely stay at BGH we have stayed there in the past.....Lovely friendly staff, good location, and nice grounds and gardens.
