Sorry for the late followup.. haven't been online for a few days.
The whole area was is located inside the Pecatu Inday Resort.
This resort first tried to get going in the late 90's but the demise of the Suharto regime (His son is a mover and shaker in the project) put everything on hold.
The Resort has resumed construction. I assume the independently run beach warung are not in their plans so they were evicted and leveled.
