We were phoned at our Hotel - eventually agreed to attend a presentation at the Peninsula at Tanjung Benoa (they usually provide a car & driver, free lunch, use of the hotel's facilities for the day). We called in in our own car on our way back from a trip.

It WAS a hard-sell - it only took 90 mins. We were adamant that it was not for us. We got a voucher for 2 weeks free accommodation in Bali or Thailand.

We used the first free week at Bali Shangrila Beach Club in Candi Dasa - it was a lovely week in a delightful place owned & managed by a very friendly but not intrusive extended English family. Altho we were supposed to sit through another presentation it just didn't happen. It's a hassle-free place. A dear friend owns a timeshare there & has no regrets. We paid $50US for the week, plus airport transfers - cheap as chips. We'd happily stay there again but no surf in the area.

Our second free week was spent at Jimbaran Hills Resort 6 months later. It cost us $5US per night (from memory - a negligible amount, anyway). Again a delightful place - a bit out of the way for shop-a-holics but a great base for my surfer husband. We had to attend a presentation that lasted about 15 mins as it was clear that we had no interest in timeshare as there are few resorts in surfing locations.

The people we dealt with were always upfront that it was timeshare. Nothing to be ashamed of - plenty of people have timeshares & love them. If I was called again & I had time I would definitely attend a 90 min presentation for a week or 2 virtually free. The scratchy guys are another matter - haven't tried, don't know.

The above is what we experienced, not hearsay. Lots of people here have attended presentations & had free weeks at great places.
