Our first trip was in 1996 and the toilets at the airport were as you said revolting!! I remember them having wire baskets for you to dispose of paper etc and like you I almost threw up at the smell and the sight. And I also remember them at Ramayana!!! I was almost cross legged racing to the loos but came to a grinding halt when I opened the door to the cess pool that greeted me and my urge to go was soon replaced with lets get back to our hotel quick. LOL. My husband could not understand how I had been so quick until I explained to him.
