Hard Rock Hotel has kiddies surf lessons and you can do a google search for more information on the lesson schedules.
When we go my kids get lessons from balinese surfies on the beach.
We go to Bob's esky (and his wife Niki). They hire out body boards and surf boards (can't say the surf boards are of the best quality, they were bouyant enough for my kids though and they got some good tips. We are considering buying one to leave in Bali for our use when we return). Bob is located down the laneway of Kuta Art Markets and then go right on the beach and look for the sign near his large esky that says 'Bob's Bar' The guys here are great and have plenty of experience, as they do this each and every day!
My daughter is really looking forward to more lessons when we return, she is 10. Am not so sure about my 8 yr old son though, because last time he had a big wipeout and nose dived his board and himself headfirst into the sand hahehe.
