Kids change in appearance. If you are travelling as a family you wont have a problem as long as there is 6 months validity remaining on the passport at the end of your trip.
I have seen one kid with 4 months passport validity get through when traveling with a large family group holiday in Phuket. The airline really did give us some grief. Then it was an uncomfortable trip worrying if the Thais would let him in.
In the end it worked out fine. We all smiled.
For what its worth go and get another passport.
