I am married to a balinese and when we lived in Bali my family use to say to me be careful going to work etc because there are bad gangs and mafia around, they rob, stabb etc. They use to scare me with stories, but still to this day haven't seen or encountered anything, but I know of other people who have. But i suppose its no different to the crime and gangs that are in Australia, you have to be careful where ever you are in the world and I would rather be in bali than here, i still feel safer there.
