Yes dengue fever is here and has always been here. As you will find by the forum archives it is like any travelling a risk to be taken into account. I had it 2 years ago - not a pleasant experience. But we still come to Bali several times a year.

Advice.
It daytime mozzies carry dengue fever. So cover up with repellent. There are 4 varieties of the fever in Bali. Once you have had one version you are immune to it. So I now only have 3 to go.One is carried by a striped mozzie known as a zebra mosquito. Not all bites result in contacting dengue only infected mozzies transmit the disease. There are no injections and no cure. The treatment is rest. White platelets are continuously counted. The danger is from secondary infection and internal bleeding due to white plate reduction.
As with all travel it is individual choice to balance risks.
