There is great diving in the Amed area. Amed Dropoff, Gili Selang and the Liberty shipwreck at Tulamben are the 3 main dives in this area.
Amed is a lovely place to stay.
Both Life in Amed and Blue Moon villas come highly reccomended both for food and lodgings.
Cheaper options are Eka Purnama or Wawa Wewe.
Ecodive and Jukung dive are good dive operators.
Visa requirements are dependent on your nationality.
Tourist visas are issued/bought on arrival... for most, but not all nationalities. 7day $US10 or 30 day.. $US25
