I had to do this in February due to an unforseen circumstance. I changed flights for a friend and I to May, and I booked through an online agency (flights only). The cost of changing your tickets will depend on what class of seat you booked, and if the flights are more expensive at the time you want to change your flight to (eg. changing to school hols or high season).
I had to go through the agent to make changes and send the tickets back to them so they could issue new tickets. There was a $50.00. surchage for processing fee and extra cost with garuda of $125.00. per person. I think the reason that they may have to have the tickets sent back to the agent may be because (in my case) the cover had the agents business logo which is stapled to the tickets (may be part of the need to do this?).
Have changed a return flight in Bali at the Garuda office (due to extending) and it cost us nothing!
