we had a xmas Bali 4 years ago, a NYE Bali 3 years ago and have just booked again for NYE this year.
I don't remember it raining non stop during the day (could be those bintangs though!!) the odd afternoon downpoor, which was a welcome relief as it was VERY muggy. Most of the rain came early in the morning or very late at night. Clearly, not enough to put us off booking at this time of year again (even though it is the only time of year we can get away).
Accomodation is more expensive and it can be difficult to avoid costly compulsory Xmas/NYE Dinners. But hey, you may be into the dinners - we just prefer to do our own thing.
Either month - i'm sure you'll have a fab time.
