If you get dropped off at Bintang market...there are many shops....just walk up one side of the street and back on the other side.... there are many really nice shops on both sides of the street.....if you walk a little further toward Legain/Kuta you will see dbl 6 street, there you can walk past many shops....and hit the beach...that stretch of the beach is quite active...there you will find place like The Lanai, Blue Ocean, Zanzibar and many more great bars/restaurants
Not far past Bintang heading toward Korobakan (sorry about the spelling) will see Cafe Moka..which is a nice place for great pasty, coffee and juices..as well as many great sandwiches and deli foods..my favorite is the Lasagne.., and also on Jl. Kunti you will be able to go to the Bali Deli...they have a cafe, and a great store...full of a lot of imported foods...also Bintang is a great grocery store...also at this market area you will find the Seminyak coffee place, they also have great pastries, breads, etc...and a hotspot..theres also a great bead shop...I promise it's a great location to begin..I stay in this area, so I'm very familiar...
Also, the ATM at Bintang will give you 2.500,000 rp...whereas most give only 1,250.000 rp I pay fees so I like to get the max when I withdraw..
