Hi rosie

I went to bali for christmas and new year as we normally do, and like you have been going there for many years and have been several times. This trip I ended up in hospital for 8 days with dengue fever and was very ill.I never were insect spray so this is my first error.I did not even have a mosquito bite on me, but my mum was covered in them and she was fine.

So as my doctor told me this is just a case of bad luck many thousands travel to bali and other tropical countries and there is only a handful of cases. I can not get the same strain of dengue again but there is 3 strains, and if I do get another one he advises that I would become very sick and this could be deadly for me. (I am still going back - he just advised I should not stay anywhere remote and to always be near medical attention)

I was told to make sure you have at least 20% deat in the product and also tropical strength, so the important thing is to make sure you get a good spray, and also to spray day and night as the dengue mosquito is a day mosquito.
As to your question on a injection there is no preventive or there is no medication if you do get it. Please do not worry just make sure you go there protected I have booked again to go back, but this time will make sure i wear my spray.

regards

bali bec
