It is true that most networks will advise you that the locking only applies to phones when in OZ, however, after being reassured of this last year we found that it did not work in our case, although the people travelling with us had no problem. Don't know what the difference was cause telstra reassured me it would not be a problem. We ended up buying a phone there.
