I use a standard international license and never had a problem in over a decade, yes I have had to pay for misdameamours but only beacause I did not have a helmet on etc, never has the license been an issue,know some Bahasa so you can negoitiate if you do something wrong, or you pay if you come to a roadblock - in this instance all locals pay as well, I pay 10,000rp - its the system so dont winge be prepared to wear it if on a bike or driving a car.
