It astounds me that people here are so down on Travellers Cheques. They're so safe & convenient. Sure, you need your Passport to change them but when you've used a money changer once or twice they won't bother - just need your Passport number. Travs Cheques can be & are readily & easily replaced, unlike cash which is gone forever & there are so many sad tales here lately of ATM & Credit Card fraud also.
I take Commonwealth Bank Aussie Dollar TCs, cash, a debit card & a credit card, hoping to never use the cards. Every few days I change what I think I'll need from TCs, & have a hundred or 2 A$ in my purse for those shopping emergencies. Been doing the same for yonks & it's worked very well.
