We stayed at the hard rock in april last year.
The place is fantastic. You will have trouble getting the boys out of the pool, and probably yourselves.
The staff are great, very eager to help with anything at any time, and they love a chat about where you are from and what it is like.
They love keeping you entertained with activities around the pool. and the live band each night and theme nights are heaps of fun.
If they offer you a trial massage, Do Not Turn It Down. It was the best head and shoulder massage i have ever had, in an amazingly comfortable environment.
The breakfast is the best that we have experienced in any hotel in bali so far. it has a huge variety of stuff which changes every day.
The shops in the hard rock are a little expensive, but it is mostly hard rock merchandise etc, which is expensive anywhere you go.
The Food at the cafe's and bars is pretty much standard hotel prices where you pay tax on everything, but still cheap in terms of what you would pay in australia, and you have to get poolside service at least once to see your food and drink come on rollerblades.
It is right in kuta so all the choices you need for shops and restaraunts are right there at your doorstep, and you are also right on kuta beach if the boys like surfing.
I would have to say that it would be the cleanest place i have seen in bali. The staff seem to clean every inch of the place from floor to ceiling, inside and out, every day.
I know you will have a great time there.
