We are a family of surfers and very rarely would we surf at Kuta and Legian. Its a beach break and not the best especially for experienced surfers. Depends on the time of year that you are going where the best surf is. From May to August you would get a good wave at Kuta reef which would mean a driver and then a boat trip, Ulluwatu, Bingin and Padang Padang all good waves and you would need a driver. Then the other side of kuta is Canguu, Balian and Medewi.
