Hi, I have been to Phuket twice now and Bali every year for the last 3 years. I would have to say that Bali for me wins hands down.
Better shopping, cheaper meals and some nice places to stay.
My last trip to Phuket was 4 years ago. Time enough to still see some of the damage caused by the Tusami. It was still a good trip but i wont be going back. Besides we in Perth are only 3 1/2 hrs away from Bali compared to over 6 or 7 carn't remember from Phuket.
So to my way of thinking being there by lunch time is a far better option. Also Phuket to me was very sleezy. Maybe i havnt seen that much of it in Bali because i don't go to the nite clubs ect but it is pretty much in your face in Phuket. Anyway wherever you choose to go have a great time.
