You could read the Italy and India sections of the book first and save the Bali section until your Bali holiday. I found myself racing through the first two sections to get to the Bali chapters....LOL
I picked up two fabulous fiction books in Ubud at one of the book shops. "To Hold the Mountain" and "Take Me to Paradise" Fantastic! just could not put them down.
Also "A Little Bit One O'clock, "A Patch of Paradise" and "Fragrant Rice are great reads.
