If you have a sack of cash its possible for individual foreigners to "buy the use of a place" in Indonesia (or other Asian countries by entering into an agreement with a local property owner). Alternatively if you have a mountain of cash and want to get involved in property big time you may set up a special indonesian company as the owning vehicle.
