..best place would be in Ubud, in the Jalan Kajeng, a small road running north next to the main Temple. Arjana is a nice one, along with Roda, & Shanti. You will be right in the compound, so reckon on lots of little kiddies running around. The toilets will be western style, but mostly the showers involve using a mandi bak with cold water only. (regular showers also present, but the longer the water runs the colder it gets). Simple breakfast is included. THERE WILL BE NO LOUD, DRUNKEN PARTY GO-ERS. The King of Ubud keeps a close watch on his town, and does not allow Fast-Food chains to be established, and no real all-night discos. For some of us, a great relief. Staying with people in villages will be very difficult and uncomfortable for you. There used to a lot more Homestays everywhere, but very many had close down in the last 6-7 years. Good Luck!!
