Day 4

Up early and had a reasonable brekky, planning on a big bike ride today, heading up the West Coast again from Sengiggi. Got a Map of Lombok from the Supermarket. Found a small stall selling Bensin (petrol) in bottles and away we went.

Stopped a few times up the coastal road for pics and give the bum a rest.

Realized we had forgotten the sun block, stopped at the town we turned off at the previous day, (reasonable size town) with my smattering of Indonesian trying to explain with actions and English and Indo what I wanted. Well totally confused the guy in the little shop, he sent me to another shop over the road, the young lady there I managed to confuse also. She had makeup and moisturisers. Maybe that was what the guy thought I wanted???

Anyway no sun block.

By the way, when we were riding through town/village group of houses we didn't notice to many signs saying ‘This is so and so' so basically had no idea of which town we were at at any one time.

After the sunblock incident I was lagging behind a bit and noticed a beautiful rooster on the rhs of the road, running after a hen. The hen headed across the road in front of me, the rooster finished in a cloud of feathers at my front wheel, look straight ahead hoary, ‘there is nothing to see here, move along please' I felt a bit bad as it is not every day you run over a man's c*ck, prized or otherwise.

Half an hour further along we spied a hand painted sign ‘Ganga Waterfall 1500m'. Chucked a right and headed along for about 5km and finally found the place. The road was a series of large potholes all joined together. A few of them really needed a bridges over them.

Got pounced on at the hut where the road ended by the guy that looks after the bridges and irrigating flow and the waterfall access. He showed us an newspaper article in English showing him and the waterfall, his daughter would guide us to the 2 waterfalls and show us the secret third waterfall. Lucky us. 50k each and the views of the surrounding area, paddies, ocean, falls and a Mosque sticking out of the rice fields was spectacular.

This was a good find.

So, 3 hours from Sengiggi we were hungry, thirst and very sore on the bum, needed a rest.

Come on Universe sort it out will ya??

Bumped into a small town called Bayan, on the Soccer field they were all set up for a ‘Rock Concert' huge stage with the floor 3m off the ground and they were testing the huge and many speakers. There was a mix of Techno and the obligatory test of 'ONE TWO' into the microphone. However, it was not in English but 'SATU DUA' What a crack up.

I found a small shed with no doors and a timber table with a plastic sheet over the top, well the lady that runs this restaurant was lovely and she served up a meaaaan chilli chicken and white rice.

You can have anything you want from this place, as long as it is chilli chicken and white rice.

After lunch we headed up the hill into ever increasing cloud, then drizzle and then rain. With no wet weather gear and no sign of clear we did a u ie and head back through Bayan.

It was another 3 hours before the concert started, so decided not to hang around.

It was a long and uneventful ride back to Sengiggi. The roads were very, very quiet and thankfully there was not a reception committee waiting for me at the seen of ‘the flying feathers and flat c*ck'. I think that would be a good name for an English Pub.

The guys at the Lina organised for us to get the little boat right out the front of the Lina, on the beach for our trip to Gili Trawangaan. 50k each bargain.

Settled into a few Bintangs and dinner at the Lina for a quiet night that got a bit noisy in the end.

Cheers,

Ray
