Hello "inthesun" if you care to email me by clicking on my name and removing the "no spam" I can let you know of a nice,cheap and safe hotel in Legian 5 minutes from the beach, I go to Bali every year and stay for 6 months and have been staying at this place for many years. Where are you from and when do you intend to go to Bali? As for food depends on what type of food you want to eat you can get some great local foods at small Warungs(cafe) or from the local street vendors.
