When you can understand Indonesian, you can be surprised about what the locals are saying about you.
I once caught a bus from Bali to Yogjakarta. A Balinese lady sitting next to me asked me my age in English. I replied in English and she then turned to a Javanese woman and said in Indonesian, "These whitemen always look older than their age"!
She was shocked when she heard me later speaking in Indonesian!
