cots are bamboo and while they look flimsy they are pretty strong, my then 18mnth had no troubles. The mattress is quite low so would need to be pretty tall baby to climb out.
The streets around Patra are closed local only streets (no cars) and you would find it quite a walk and very difficult to get on the road to Kuta(you will understand once there) which is why everyone walks along the beach. It is only about 500 metres to the road via beach access from Patra so quickest route by long shot.
We use a quick smart stroller which folds into backpack and great for airports/travel etc... No need to buy a new stroller, if you don't want to take your own just recycle one from the salvos etc give it a good clean and leave it behind.
