Now called Visitor Visa (Single Entry)
When a family member extended her 60 day "Tourist Visa" in Bali last year for one month it was done through an agent.
No sponsor was required (perhaps the agent acts as the sponsor?)
When she extended again after that month she was required to produce 2 passport photos as well.
The Sydney Consulate website currently seems to have the best more up to date info on visas.
