we stayed for 4 nights in lovina last year based on my impressions on a day trip to the area on a previous holiday.
The pace is very slow compared to kuta but if you do all or even some of the recommended things from balibeli you will have a real insight into the other side of Bali.
My experience would be to contact the hotel first before you book via an agency - tourism there is also slow and you can probably negotiate a better deal direct with the hotel.
Enjoy the fields of rice growing next to the main road being harvested with a sickle - in some ways Lovina is like bali of 30 years ago - my younger son got the shock of his life when he saw a grannie walking down one of the roads clad only in a sarong!
The beach vendors however could teach their kuta counterparts a thing or two. Be prepared to be beseiged if you show any interest in buying.
Hope you enjoy your stay
