I totally agree with the fact that you shouldn't be staying in Kuta for a whole week. Certainly not if you would like to experience some more genuine Balinese culture and society.
For a one-week trip, I would combine with Ubud though. Within and around Ubud are so many things to do, while in Lovina your choices will be limited.
