We have recently returned from staying 10 nights in a Premier Garden Chalet. I also stayed 7 nights there in a deluxe room in December...
It is far superior than staying in the deluxe rooms they offer (which are still fine). The location in the vast hotel is important- in the Garden Chalets you are closer to the pool, the restaurants, the "Club" and you can hear the waves at night...
Being able to have breakfast in the Bella Rosa is a bit nicer as you lookout over the beach in the mornings watching the locals set up business for the day and the surfers.
The actual rooms are bit larger than usual, large shower, lots of little extras such as mid afternoon delivery of cakes to the room etc. Also nice little private garden area.
Its probably not great if you are taking young children.. The 5 till 7 drinkies doesn't allow kids, although i think you can take them along to the breakfast.
The Padma in general is wonderful.. There is also a fantastic little massage place just outside the front entrance of the hotel called Widia Linda's... $6 for an hour long massage in air conditioned comfort. No apt necessary, normally you can just walk in- they can do 5 people at ont time. We went every single day. The best massage i have ever had.
