I have hired a car or motorbike many times and had no problems. Once you are away from the busy tourist areas it is pretty easy. You still have to watch out for almost every thing such as cars,motorbikes,pushbikes,children,dogs,cats,pigs,ducks etc etc but you will probably not exceed 60 km/hr so it's not too bad. Plus you have the luxury of going and stopping where ever you choose.
This time last year I hired a Suzuki Katana for 105,000rp a day,including insurance.Had it for 2 weeks and covered over 1,000kms with no bother.Don't forget your international driver's licence.
